Hello, Substack!
Lately I’ve been inspired by other photographers and creatives on Threads. I’ve seen quite a few accounts promote their Substack publications, and that encouraged me to continue this goal. What is that goal again? To create a collection of my musings and thought processes for me to one day look back at with pride. Like a journal, but specifically for photography since it’s such a huge part of my life. I also want to inspire others and encourage them to do the same.

What’s the latest?
It’s been half a year since the last post, so here’s a brief recap in regards to my creative endeavors.
Flew to New York for my dear cousin’s wedding, also tried street photography for the first time
Went on a month-long trip to Southeast Asia: Thailand, Korea, Philippines
Did my first solo travel in Chiang Mai, Thailand: hiked a mountain, saw elephants, finally got comfortable with street photography
Visited my little brother in the Philippines and realized he has a great eye for photography which I want to encourage!
Been in a depressive slump which really slowed down my photography
Took my point and shoot to my favorite music festival
Joined Threads after much resistance and fell in love with the community
Got the DJI Osmo Action 3, an action camera
Started taking videos this year! I was also inspired to start videography.
Photographed at the local annual anime convention again
A bookstore in Chiang Mai (taken right before I passed out from the heat).
Some Reflections
I fell off writing here because I missed July’s self portrait session, and life got in the way after that including dealing with both regular and seasonal depression. I originally started this blog in January, and I want to end the year strongly if not to make up for half a year of silence.
I’ve mentioned Threads a couple of times already because it has now become a great place for inspiration, encouragement and community. I will continue jotting down quick musings there, and now I want to add longer pieces of writing here.
Thank you for reading this brief catch-up! I’m really excited to write more again.
exited to see more from you, Arielle!!
I didn't know threads had such a large community.
I remember hearing about it sometime back but I ended up just blowing it off as a knock off twitter.
Looks like I was certainly wrong! I'll have to give it a look myself.
